Do we really need fashion? OR IS IT FASHION THAT NEEDS US?

http://www.style.com/fashion-shows/fall-2013-ready-to-wear/milan/dolce-gabbana/collection/_DOL0361.450x675.JPGDon't you believe that fashion is a conditioning? I mean, if it wasn't so, there would be no fashion, no imposition of a taste, a model or color to the public, who accepts the choices made by others: choices imposed precisely because they're "all the rage".

If us (women especially but I’ve seen also a lot of men going crazy about fashion :P) wouldn't stare in front of shops, newspapers, fashion magazines and advertizing, there would be no fashion. It has become a really big industry making money out of our ''controlled minds".
We shouldn't forget that fashion is not only the pleasure of wearing particular clothes, choose one color instead of another, but it is basically a huge turnover. I remember myself wearing last year, for the first time after a long time, a pair of shoes that I didn't really like. They looked strange and horrible to look at. But once they became fashionable, once everyone started to wear similar shoes to mines, I started wearing them almost everyday. That's ridiculous, isn't it? Suddenly that horrible pair of shoes became "cool" for me.

So what is really happening? We often see young people asking and demanding their independence of tastes of choices, asking to do and wear whatever they like (It comes back to my memory my Grandma who used to tell me: where are you going wearing those horrible clothes? we didn't use to wear like this back in our times). And I was saying about these young people who in fact fall into the trap of fashion malls, making them subject of this big conditioning?

Actually no one has another choice: in the shops you can find only fashionable clothes, which look pretty much the same. You can't produce clothes the way you want. You may work out something, but you can not pretend to create all of you clothes, who also fit you well. Even if you wanted to, you could not find different clothes than the ultimate-fashion ones.

So us, young people are becoming slaves of fashion industry, demanding for freedom on one side, but following the crowd, in fact !

I think fashion is also a big big source of stress:”I need those shoes, that dress, that hat, that necklace, and this other one, oh these earring too, can’t miss that new bikini for this year. Don’t forget my bags!!!”

A new fashion imposes you to buy new stuff every year: can’t go out if you don’t have the brand new stuff ! Sometimes we spend a lot of time choosing what to wear: what a waste of time that can be used sooooo much better !

In any case, it seems to me that all this involvement and conditioning of fashion is a reality that must be accepted as it, because it gives us no other solutions.

Fashion industry is making money out of the situation, and us on the other side are giving a lot of money. And the bad side is that they don’t ask us to do it, we are getting more and more obsessed with fashion and we don’t care how much we spend:

So why don’t you stop and think for a moment: DO WE REALLY NEED FASHION? OR IS IT FASHION THAT NEEDS US?
